how do volunteers help?

The volunteer program at Bear Cottage offers practical and emotional support to children and families during their stay.

Most volunteers will undertake a variety of tasks in order to support the professional staff at Bear Cottage. These may include:

• Playing with children
• Reading to children
• Taking children on outings
• Helping staff in Bear Cottage with cooking, cleaning, administration and fundraising activities
• Lending a listening ear to parents
• Driving families to outings or to appointments
• Walking Scooter

Volunteers need to show flexibility and a willingness to help out wherever there is a need.
